Does a rent guarantor have to be a home owner?

When you apply to rent a property, landlords or accommodation providers more and more check out the guarantor you provide as carefully they checked your own references.

For most of the accommodation providers who ask for one, the guarantor must be a home owner in the UK. Indeed, in case of default, the landlord or accommodation provider will be able to recover rent or damages money from a UK home owner easier than from someone who does not own recoverable assets in the UK.
